Siana Law is proud to honor Allan B. Greenwood, Esq., a Partner of the firm for thirteen years, for reaching a milestone achievement as a 50-year member of the Chester County Bar Association. Allan first became a member of the Chester County Bar Association in 1966 and served as President of the Association in 1988. After reflecting on his involvement in the CHESCO BAR Association he said:
“It is very good and comforting, especially for younger members of the bar, to have an organization to belong to that does many good works. It makes possible both personal and professional growth. In my own case, I found this both enjoyable and of value. To become acquainted with a large number of fellow attorneys and a number of the judges is a good thing. The Bar Association has grown from about 250 members when I first joined it 50 years ago to a membership currently of close to if not somewhat in excess of 1,000. In that time, the organization has adopted many technological changes – something necessary, with this many lawyers in it.”
When asked what advice he would offer to future presidents, Allan humbly replied, “It is a little pretentious for me to give advice to future leaders of the Association.” However, he did recall one key lesson that he learned through his own experience: the importance of “bringing as many members into play as possible. For example, at Board of Directors meetings, ask various members their views on whatever the topic under discussion is. This might make some uncomfortable at the time, but the next meeting they will be better prepared. At the same time, there should be a trusted core of people around you that can get a lot done quickly. I was very fortunate to have Judge Ronald Nagle as my predecessor and Bill Gallagher, one of the very best litigators in the county, as my successor.”
Many of our partners enjoyed showing their support for Allan and celebrating his achievement at the Chester County Bar Association President’s Dinner on Friday, January 13th. Congratulations, Allan!
