Siana Law recognizes attorney Eric M. Brown, Esquire for his feature in the November 2018 issue of PSATS (Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors) PA Township News. Mr. Brown was recently interviewed for an article that discusses pension trends and strategies municipalities may be able to apply to improve pension plan funding.
“Meet with your pension team at the beginning of the calendar year in which an employee contract is set to expire, Brown says. Evaluation the condition of the fund, and once you receive and initial collective bargaining proposal, identify any pension-related requests. Then, be sure to ask your actuary for a cost study before making any changes to the pension plan. Actuaries are usually willing to provide studies containing several options, he says.”
